Watching your dog having a seizure can be a frightening and heartbreaking experience. The dog that is quietly gnawing at a bone will suddenly keel over, piteously whine, salivate, paddle its feet and wet the carpet. Hopefully you will never have to watch your dog having a seizure, but understanding the causes of seizures and knowing what to do will be a big help if your pet dog has one.
Seizures in dogs have many causes, but canine epilepsy is the most common one. The dog will have repeated seizures because of uncontrolled brain activity. Epileptic seizure can not be cured, but can be controlled with medications. To name a few, the Poodle, German Shepherd, Keeshond, Cocker Spaniel are some of the breeds prone to epileptic seizures. Canine epileptic seizures are idiopathic and it has not proven that it is hereditary.
Seizures can also be caused by brain tumors. A brain tumor can grow on brain tissues or the tumor from other body organs can spread to the brain. When a tumor enlarges, it will put pressure on the brain thereby causing seizures. Distemper is another cause of canine seizures. This viral disease that causes brain damage usually affects puppies that are not vaccinated. Distemper is transmitted through feces, urine and saliva and two to three weeks after being exposed to the viral disease, the dog will have seizures. Seizures are also associated with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, a disease that results from tick infestation.
Dogs are scavengers. They are voracious eaters as well. Spoiled food from the garbage cans, poisonous household plants, grass newly sprayed with toxic chemicals can be too appealing for the dog to pass up. Once these toxic substances are ingested, the pet can have a bout of vomiting and seizures. Unlike epileptic seizures, this kind of seizure need urgent medical attention. A dog having an epileptic seizure will have paddling feet while a dog with poison induced seizure has stiffened legs. Chances of recovery depends on the kind of toxin ingested and on how soon the treatment is given to the dog.
A dog that is having a seizure is not a pretty sight. A panicking owner would naturally want to help a pet. Although it is quite difficult, the best thing to do is to stay calm. The dog may be highly stressed, but it does not actually feel any pain while having a fit. Stay calm and make the pet as comfortable as possible. Talk in a soothing voice. It helps if the pet knows that you are there.

There are many different forms of cerebral palsy, and a child can endure one or more at a time. The different types are spastic, athetoid, ataxic, or mixed. However, spasticity is most common among children, which is usually distinguished through rigid and convulsive muscles. On the other hand, other forms of this disability cause low muscle tone, leading to loose and flaccid muscles, underdeveloped balance and coordination, or a combination of these.
Cerebral palsy can also lead to many other conditions, such as mental retardation, epilepsy, visual and hearing impairments, and behavioral difficulties. Although its conditions can be managed through medications, there is no permanent cure for it.
What Causes Cerebral Palsy in a Child?
The main cause in children is prenatal injury to the brain. Sometimes, the cause of the brain injury is unknown, and other times there are many known factors that contribute to the development of cerebral palsy.
However, there are some known conditions which can either cause cerebral palsy, or increase the risk of it. These conditions include birth injuries, inadequate oxygen supply, premature birth, prenatal infections, like rubella or toxoplasmosis, and severe jaundice.
Thedisability can also develop after birth due to brain injuries early in life, such as trauma, dehydration, or stroke.
Treating Cerebral Palsy in Children
Treatment varies depending on the child, but typically includes a combination of the following.
* Physical therapy to stretch and work muscles
* Occupational therapy, to assist with regular tasks
* Speech therapy to improve language and help with pronunciation difficulties
* Using hearing aids or glasses to correct vision and hearing impairments
* Drug therapy to reduce muscle spasms and help relaxation. Some recommended products are baclofen, phenol or Botox
* Technology which helps mobilize people and give them ways to communicate
* Improve joint movement through surgery
* Hyperbaric oxygen therapy or other alternative therapies.
Cerebral palsy requires a lifetime of treatment, despite the fact that is does not gradually worsen over time. However, treatment can be very expensive, so families turn to certain associations to provide them with financial help.
When Medical Malpractice is to Blame
Unfortunately, sometimes this condition is preventable, but medical errors occur during delivery. When this happens, legal actions should take place. Negligent parties are held financially responsible for damages to cerebral palsy children and their families.
If you experienced a traumatic delivery, and medical malpractice is under suspicion as the cause to your child’s condition, then contact a medical lawyer as soon as possible. Doing this will ensure you your legal rights.

By night terrors it is meant a frightful dream accompanied with a sense of oppression, suffocation and helplessness. It may be an occasional nocturnal disturbance, in which case it is of no particular significance, or it may occur frequently when it is a symptom or precursor of some serious psychological trouble, such as hysteria, insanity, etc.
It usually comes on when the patient is sleeping on his back or left side mostly during the first part of the night within a couple of hours of going to bed. It begins with a weird and terrifying dream; the sufferer dreams that he is falling from a great height and is in dreadful expectation of coming in violent contact with hard ground, or is being buried under overwhelming rocks, or is pursued by wild animals or robbers and is in imminent peril of his life. He is completely paralyzed and horrified on account of his inability to escape from the danger and begins crying screaming violently or utters indistinct sounds. He might get a minor convulsive seizure during the attack and become unconscious. The attack is followed by violent palpitation and a sense of fatigue. There may be more than one attack during the course of the night. In mild cases the attacks are repeated at long intervals, but in severe ones there may be two or three during the week. Abnormal conditions of the stomach, heart, tonsils or lungs, or the presence of adenoids, or an overloaded stomach act as an exciting cause.
For the successful treatment of this condition a thorough medical examination of the child is necessary in order to find out and remedy any abnormal condition that may be present. A child with a nervous temperament should not be frightened, or told terrifying stores and should not be overburdened with studies. He should have regular open air exercise, light and early meals in the evening, warm and comfortable clothing, and regular hours of turning in.
It may be possible from the indistinct mutterings in sleep to recognize the source of the trouble, such as a treat, a terrifying story or some other frightening experience. A single such experience is likely to produce a severe psychic injury, the effect of which might last a long time or for life, and adversely affect the well-being of the child in the future. The practice of frightening children when they are unruly is very undesirable and it is likely to lay the foundation of some serious permanent trouble.
If there is a tendency to bed-wetting it should receive proper treatment. The child should not be scolded or receive any undue sympathy, as it is likely to maintain the symptoms unconsciously so as to retain the care and sympathy of the parents, the child should be tactfully encouraged to talk about his fear and unpleasant experience, and should be explained the unreality of the danger, and this should be frequently impressed on his mind directly and indirectly. Only in case of frequent and severe attacks drugs would be necessary, but their frequent use is undesirable. Bromide mixture might be given for a short time and discontinued when no longer needed.

Xanthoparmelia is used as a muscle relaxant. It helps the person taking the said dietary supplement attain smooth muscle relaxation. This helps attain maximum dilation of the arteries, increasing pressure and, consequently, blood flow.
Erection is largely brought about by sufficient blood flow being diverted into the male sexual organ. Maintenance of prolonged erection is also caused by sustained blood supply into the same.
Cnidium Monnier is a substance that acts as a precursor of the nitric oxide. It specifically increases the rate of release of nitric oxide, while inhibiting the release of PDE-5. The potent combination of effects gives the assurance for sustained erection for a longer period of time.
Watch out for potential health risks
Not all Stamina RX dietary supplements are created equal though. In fact, no less than the US Food and Drugs Administration warn against unbridled use of just any brand of this supplement. Syncope accounts for almost 40 percent patients visiting a clinic for the complaints of ‘sudden fall episodes’. It is a transient loss of consciousness associated with the loss of body tone. Most of the patients recover spontaneously. It may occur as a single event without any specific causation or can also be recurrent when it is associated with some organic pathology. The basic pathophysiology includes reduced cerebral blood flow.
An occurrence of syncope needs to be differentiated from a seizure episode, since it mimics the later very closely. A recurrent an d unexplained episodes of syncope need to be examined for possible structural cardiac pathologies, since it can lead to death if not attended in time. Most of the times, syncope occurs suddenly without any warning, but few patients can experience pre-syncope manifestations like light-headedness, dizziness, a feeling of warmth, nausea, and visual blurring.
Causes:
The transient reduction in the cerebral blood flow is mostly due to three basic causes
1. Disturbance in the vascular tone or blood volume
2. Obstructive cardiovascular disorders and rhythm abnormalities
3. Cerebrovascular diseases
The disturbance of vascular tone or blood volume can be due to situations like cough, micturition, defecation or valsalva maneuver as well as due to carotid sinus hypersensitivity. Also due to orthostatic hypotension because of some vasodilator drugs, pure autonomic failure, peripheral neuropathy, and decreased blood volume. Cardiac rhythm abnormalities like sinus bradicardia, sinus arrest, atrioventricular block or atril flutter and fibrillation can also lead to syncope. Vetebrobasilar insufficiency or basilar artery migraine are one of the cerebrovascular diseases causing syncope.
Disorders that can mimic syncope are few metabolic disorders like hypoxia, hypoglycemia, anemia or hyperventilation or some psychogenic events due to anxiety attacks or hysterical fainting.
Neurocardiogenic or vasovagal syncope is usually associated with both sympathetic withdrawal [vasodilatation] and increased parasympathetic activity causing bradicardia. These are precipitated by alcohol consumption, severe pain, extreme fatigue, hunger, prolonged standing, exposure to hot or crowded environment, and during emotional situation.
Diagnosis:
The above mentioned pathologies should be ruled out by conducting diagnostic tests after a thorough clinical history – including serum electrolytes, glucose and blood counts. Electrocardiogram, cardiac enzymes need to be checked in case of cardiac causes. An electroencephalogram will rule out the possibility of a seizure activity.
Homeopathic treatment:
Sporadically occurring syncope attacks do not need any treatment if you diagnose them of vasovagal origin. Remedies like gelsemium, belladonna, conium and phosphorus have been most effective in treating intermittent episodes of syncope.

The basic things about the information is all of them are just theories as of now. Each and every day we get more information on fibromyalgia and its causes.
Fibromyalgia was only discovered in the 1980′s, so I’m not surprised on this. Even lately most physicians do not diagnose it correctly and believe this to be a mental problem. This never fails to surprise me. Surely these doctors hear first-hand what many of my clients relay to me. They have chronic (lasting longer than two weeks) pain, overwhelming fatigue or a combination of both.
This, in turn, affects not just themselves but their families. Imagine that even the simplest chores around the house have to be well planned out and all that can be disrupted if the sufferer isn’t having a “good day.” Many believe that the brain gets extra sensitive to pain signals. What most of us miss in fibromyalgia can also cause unbearable pain. The reason for why this pain or tiredness occur is still mostly in theories.
Why is this? What could cause this chronic widespread condition? Infection is now making its way to the forefront of theories. In a recent study on sinusitis, almost ALL chronic sinusitis sufferers also reported symptoms of fibromyalgia.
Other studies on hepatitis C, chronic Lyme disease and HIV also point to a much greater incidence of fibromyalgia. This happens to moms close exposure to their children who has symptoms. As women inform symptoms in large number than men, we need to know what are the other infections that can pass from a child to parent causing fibromyalgia. Fifth’s condition had also come top on the table.
Another report in theory is that injections used for certain diseases do carry the risk of getting fibromyalgia.
If these theories hold true, it’s yet another example of how the body, in attempting to protect itself from disease, actually becomes the enemy in some other form. Signals get crossed in the brain and the body actually ends up attacking itself to some degree.
The problem is that even if conclusive evidence emerged tomorrow to show that infection is the source of fibromyalgia, the treatment for the initial infection does not alleviate the symptoms of fibromyalgia. One should remember that for some persons exercise is the main cause of the pain. Anti inflammatory drugs, anti-depressant drugs, anti-seizure medications and exercise are the some kind of treatment that shows some promise. Most people do not wish to take medications as most of them has serious side effects.
My programs are result oriented and has given relief to many of my clients who suffered from fibromyalgia. All my natural fibromyalgia programs are highly recommended. I sincerely hope it can help you too.
